Early intervention: goal is to strengthen family functions by enhancing family patterns of interaction which impact on the healthy development of the child. Census family: a married couple with out without children living in a dwelling. Children can be any age but brought in through birth, marriage or adoption but can not have their own o spring living with them. Cultural mediators: individuals who help mediate between the culture of the school and of the family share information so families can participate in the education process. Reconstituted or (blended) family: each parent bringing new children into the household. Jealousy about the time and attention the child with special needs gets. Guilt about being angry with sibling who has special needs. Listening to the families priorities and needs. Intervene by providing resource supports, social supports, information and services family abuse and the child with special needs: Children with special needs are more likely to be abused than other children.
