Bodily sensation that occurs when vibrations are picked up by the ear: positivistic definition (more scientific) sound is vibratory force in the external world. Vibrations in a material medium and of range of frequencies within and beyond the range of human hearing. What we call sound is actually a narrow slice or band of the vibratory field, much of which cannot be heard by humans.
