Use common words, except for necessary technical terms (write to express not impress) Use reasonable sentence lengths (8 words 100% comprehension; 15 words = 90%: matter of grammar, make sense of a sentence, typically looking for a subject of obvert, word length gets higher = comprehension will be lower. Goal: write shorter and try to limit your expression (express less ideas in one sentence for better comprehension) Use active voice verbs: sentence is easier to understand i. e. bob selected the new computers vs. the new computers were selected by. Bob: first phrase is easier to comprehend because you state the who, easier to use personal pronouns: i, you, we (pronouns disappear in formal writings; specifically, when addressing to someone you don"t know) Intent is to make it sound more conversational not trying o dumbing down your content.
