CRI 600 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Scientific Method
Document Summary
Myths: stories that are developed and passed down in an effort to explain why certain mysterious events occur or to affirm how we should behave and think. Myths are developed when cultures can"t rely on existing knowledge. Originated through greek legends of gods/supernatural to explain the unexplainable (forces of nature, afterlife, etc. ) Muse: source of inspiration, bearers of (cid:838)creative spark(cid:839) Theologians from a variety of religions throughout history asserted that god was the sole source of creativity. Museum: (cid:838)cult place of the muses(cid:839), now any place where creative works are kept. Modern scientific method has helped us move away from belief in the muses. Creativity is seen by most experts in the field as the process of developing ideas that are both novel and useful. Creativity by individuals and teams is a starting point for innovation: the first is necessary but not sufficient condition for the second.
