A publishing board consists of the publisher and/or editor in chief representatives from sales, marketing, subsidiary rights, and production. Operates on a sponsor system, anyone on the board- anyone in the entire company can pitch a book. The first pitch, the proposal or manuscript is presented by the sponsor and the board discusses it briefly. If the board like the pitch, the sponsor then prepares a second, much more detailed pitch. Financial test: two types of costings are usually required in the decision to publish process.
