In general, the more serious an incident, the greater the likelihood it came to the attention of the police. Break-ins and theft of motor vehicle or parts were reported to police at least 44% of the time. Incidents causing injury (45%) those involving a weapon (53%) or those that resulted in financial loss of or more (70%) were also more likely to be reported.
