Community corrections are there to gradually release offenders so that offender and correctional officers can manage risk. Keeping the offender busy (through program overload or work) Providing whatever they need in order for them to adjust beyond prison walls. Program release: in prison the services needed might not be available. An inmate can be released to a specific program. Day parole: going out for the day and then coming back at night. Warrant expiry date: serving the complete sentence aka going out cold turkey. This is an issue because some inmates do not want to be release, they will not be monitored the same as statutory release. Usually includes certain restrictions on movement and actions. Non for profit organization which help inmates get back on their feet: elizabeth fry, john howard etc .
