Violent behaviour is learned/socialized through family, school, and other institutions (friends, community) It does not reside in individuals (even though individuals make their own choices), but rather the broader economic, social, geo-political, and cultural surroundings. Media(cid:859)s (cid:272)(cid:396)u(cid:272)ial (cid:396)ole -> mass media has the ability to influence millions of people. A projection of dominant values of what a real (wo)men is: male -> tough, strong, physical and gaining respect through violence. Socialized from a young age when given cars, trucks, etc. as toys, and blue/dark clothing: female -> sex object, submissive, nurturing, gentle. Socialized from a young age when given dolls, tea sets, etc. as toys, and pink/light clothing.
