Communication is a mediating domain that brings the outer two domains together with the four inner domains. Art of conversation is a critical skill as much of the work occurs in the milieu and is prompted by daily events. Conversations move from small talk" to meaningful talk" helps identify next steps". There are many micro skills involved: encouraging, questioning, paraphrasing, summarizing, etc. Involves attending to and understanding facial expressions, gestures, body movement and contact, eye contact, personal space, vocal tone, and quality. Certain rules for etiquette in different cultures and the interpretation of both language and gesture can be different for people from different regions therefore must be understood. It reinforces or contradicts what is being said while offering additional information to the other person.
