People could pay to look at lunatics + free entry on tues (a la ago free weds) Moneymaking, way for hospital to maintain/run itself. Other people w disabilities/racialized people also put on display for profit. To 1850: provincial lunatic asylum aka howard bldg. Was v famous, largest bldg in city. Camh: 4 institutions amalgamated in 1998: queen st site ****** (1970s, clarke institute - psych intervention + training hospital. College/spadina: addiction research foundation - alcohol and drug use, day programs, research, donwood institute - also addiction + inpatient programs.
