Compounded for parents with special needs chronic mental/physical illness and addiction. Quality of care and child-development: stress and illness. Stress can lead to illness; illness can lead to stress. Stress and illness can lead to compromised quality of parental care: stigma obstacle to care, quality of care, child development and stress and illness. Compromised quality of care can lead to poor child-development. Compromised child development can lead to further compromised care alone with additional stress and illness for both child and parent. Emotional health & brain development: emotional health impacts all parts of development. Intellectual, physical, language, social: emotional health of children. Closely related to that of their parents, family members and child care: brain development birth to 5 is critical period.
