The hero, the underdog, the snake, the insect, disasters, colors, etc. Genre fiction is considered to be plot driven to attract a broad audience. Literary fiction is character driven and directed to a smaller audience. Genre fiction is a broad, general reflection of society. Rewards prove the genre fiction is worthwhile/worth something.
