Epidemic - the occurrence in a region of cases clearly in excess of normal expectancy. Endemic constant presence of a disease in an area or usual prevalence. Pandemic a disease that attacks a wide region, a continent, or even the world. And in animals : epizootic (disease affecting many animals of the same kind at the same time, enzootic (always present in animals, panzootic (avian flu, h5n1) Recognizing types of distributions point source without propagation. Non-point source propagated distributions: sometimes the outbreak starts with one or a few cases who then pass it Person to person spread: propagation builds the numbers slowly.
