*h1n1, polio in nigeria, ebola, and zeeka are the public health emergencies of public concern. Knowing the carrier helps stop the spread of disease. Convalescent: is exposed to and harbors the organism and is recovering. Healthy: exposed and harbors but doesn"t show signs (passive, subclinical, asymptomatic, etc. ) Incubatory: asymptomatic (the incubation period has yet to pass), will get sick. You wont need to know these diseases for the exam (already covered in midterm) Motaba was the name in the movie for the disease that in real life is ebola. Guinea, sierra leone and liberia were most affected by ebola. Ebola is no longer considered a public emergency (it flares up but its not that big of a deal-we are actively watching it) 5 strains: a) cfr=53, b) 88% (recently hit west africa, c) only a few ppl were affected and they never had a sever cases- never developed. Enf: d)not fatal and no secondary transmission, e) cfr=40%
