Document Summary

Design, texture or pattern which produce the weave itself. Fancy weave and woven figure are made by changing the interlacing pattern between the design area and the background. The interlacing pattern is controlled by the warp yarns" position during weaving. the possible interlacing increases as the number of harnesses increases. Leno is a weave in which the warp yarns do not lie parallel to each other. Warp yarn is not parallel, instead it is creased crossing. Weft yarn is then insert through the through the twists. The twist secured the weft yarn in place. Instead of a very loosely plain weave, this has the waft yarn that is creased crossed rounded the weft yarn and lock them in place: adds to durability. Leno is made with a doup attachment, which may be used with a plain or a dobby loom. Fabric made by leno weave include marquisette, mosquito netting, and some bags for laundry, fruit, and vege.
