When we say colour management we mean icc. The corrections are done automatically in software like photoshop. An icc profile can be used, as this allows all parts of the workflow to predict and preview the colour responses of the press. If the prepress assumes the job will go to a swop press, then the prepress can pull proofs and show the designer/client the simulate proof.
