GCM 800 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Inkjet Printing, Flexography, List Of Recurring Futurama Characters
Document Summary
High-output version of rubber stamping but using a big flexible plate that transfers the design to the material. Covered in tiny little cells that pick up the ink. More cells per inch = more ink coverage: plate cylinder. Squeezing against the plate so you get a beautiful print. Continuously fed materials from large rolls of material stock and allows it to print on average 350 feet/min (four miles of material in an hour!) Process that uses a flexible relief plate. Thin sheets of polymer material that is coated with photosensitive surface. The relief image is a positive mirrored, laser-engraved printing plate of a digital artwork which is wrapped around a print cylinder and installed into the press. The plate transfers the ink, and prints onto the passing web material. Each desired colour within the label requires its own individual plate. 10 ink stations = capable of 10 colours.
