Space can be seen as a container for human activity. Space can be seen as something that is perceived by individuals. Distance decay: the declining intensity of any pattern or process with increasing distance from a given location. Cognitive - difference between one way and another. Objective - size; measured by length and width. Psychological representations of locations that are created from people"s individual ideas and impressions of these locations. An objective location that has both uniqueness and interdependence with other places. A subjective social and cultural construct - somewhere that has personal meaning for individuals or groups. The resolution levels used in any human geographic research. Most characteristically refers to the size of the area studied, the time period covered, and the number of people investigated. Geographical representations of the surface of the earth. Scale - relative size of earth to map. Small scale - large areas, less detail and larger extent.
