At that temperature we expect metallic minerals will melt but they are solid because of the extreme pressure. The higher degrees of compression cause it to be solid: mantle. Makes up 80% of the volume of earth: asthenosphere. One of the reasons why we have earth movements. Because it is so weak, that"s why there are earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Ocean crust: made of certain minerals; basalt and gabbro, shorter in terms of thickness, and denser in fluid (large amount of water, mafic: high amount of magnesium and iron materials. Continental crust: made of sial: silica and aluminum, lighter compared to the ocean crust, some cases it is buoyant (floats) Hydrosphere: made up of oceans, lakes, rivers, water sources, riverine, lacustrine, palustrine, ocean, cryosphere: zone of ice and snow. Accounts for 75% of the water on earth. 71% of earth is made of water (know the oceans)
