Positive and Negative aspects of Technology on Environment
Positive and Negative aspects of Technology on the Environment: the impact that
technology has on the env
Industrialization occurred due to technology
There are many positive and negative aspects of technology on env
What are the negative aspects?
What are the negative aspects of technology? Is technology good or bad
We can't say weather it is good or bad because It is both good and bad - it depends on
what perspective you are looking from and what is your goal ex are you taking care of the
env, animals/species? We are living in information and computer age - we cannot live
without our devices (smartphones, computers) and information. We live in an information
age today. The computers today are really fast and the technology within the computers is
pretty fast. Within a year devices and software's get updated which means there's new
technology and the current technology is old so you can't use the same devices for years
and years. Technology becomes obsolete very fast.
We are living in information and computer age
The computers and its technology change fast
On the other hand, almost: 77% of world population owns smartphones - mobile/cell
phones
These smart phones consume energy and have to be updated.
4-5% of world population owns PCs and for each computer we need to consume 1.8 tons
of chemicals - in order to produce computers we need 1.8 ton of chemicals - fossil fuels
and water to be build/manufactured. So this means that to produce this type of
technology, we need the env, resources and these resources maybe renewable or non
renewable. Energies that will not be renewed within a short lifetime are called non-
renewable, we may eventually renew them for ex: something may take a long time ex 600
years to be renewed but we says its non-renewable as the time is important, within our
age time it is non renewable or biodegradable. It depends on the scale of time whether we
categorize it as renewable or non-renewable
Every single computer requires about 1.8 tons of chemicals, fossil fuels and water for its
manufacture
Mobile phones and Cell Towers
Effects of mobile radiation on:
Does cell phones signals/energy impact the env or not
Birds - eagles/hawks - may crash due to the signals - the signals impact on their brain and
so they can't fly. Just as the signals of the phone interfere with an airplane, similarly they
also interfere with birds
lets talk about windmills - what is a windmill? In general a mill is something that converts
energy to grind grain. Nowadays we use such energy to generate power so when wind
blows,, the blades rotate and it acts like a turbine which generates electricity - this is a
