Chapter 2 a look at the soruces of ethical problems in business and how to prevent them 10/11/2016 12:51:00 am. 1 & 2: we are egocentric and our aim in to avoid punishment and achieve personal gain through our choices. Primary focus is on satisfying their own needs. People gain genuine respect for authority and rules. Stage 3: mutual interpersonal expectations, relationships, and conformity : people conform to the general societal expectations. They are now also concerned with the impact of their actions and decision on others. Stage 4: law and order orientation: people determine what is right by considering their duty to society at large. Stage 5: prior rights, social contracts, or utility: people are concerned with upholding the basic rights, values and legal contracts of society. Recognize, that opinions often conflict, therefore tries to use fair methods to reach consensus by agreement, contract and due process.
