Good for variable data, direct marketing, personalization, etc. Digital printing processes are generally better suited to shorter press runs versus longer press runs. Makeready is extremely short with very little spoilage/waste. Typical digital press runs can range from 50 sheets to 1000 sheets. There are two dominant types/categories of digital printing processes: Uses electrically charged dry toner particles and image transfer drum to create an image. Example: xerox digital press in press lab. Uses highly fluid ink and print head to print directly on substrate. Other terms for digital printing include non-impact printing, plateless printing, and electronic printing.
