Photoshop = . psd: for illustrations (vector artwork), unlimited colours, file size dependent on le complexity, resolution independent vector images, for photos, large le size, bitmap/raster images! Changed history of printing: allowed print into code, printing on all kinds! Critical in our industry because it allowed us to print from any computer to any printer! Does not support transparency and device-independent colour! In 2006, adobe announced it would be stopping development of postscript, replacing it with native pdf work ow! Postscript not good with multiple les in terms of transparency! Separated images by colour by attening: not a programming language like postscript, document structure can be compared to database! Direct access to each object: allows for exchange of les across multiple platforms & operating systems!
