Socially, british influence on american society was profound. Support wasn"t unanimous; there were about 4. 5m irish-americans. This was a moment when they could possibly free ireland from great britain. However, it was easier to support britain and france than germany because the latter invaded first. News is more influenced by allies, allowing americans to be swayed towards thinking that the germans were the bad guys.
