There coast is also very shallow so ships can"t dock. So britain puts a blockade on german boats. By block germany they can strangle german from trad. Germans stated using these to combat the british blockade. These are not the best as they are horrible at sea as they are small and not the best. U boats are used to get what ever is coming from their colonies. So germans go after the convoys, canada is key part as halifax is a key port during the war. Conveys usually travel in a group is a triangular shape with impetus to ships in the middle.
