A unified enterprise architecture will standardize enterprise-wide hardware and software systems, with tighter links to the business strategy. A solid enterprise architecture can decrease costs, increase standardization, promote reuse of it assets, and speed development of new systems. The end result is that the right enterprise architecture can make it cheaper, strategic, and more responsive. An enterprise architecture is a person grounded in technology, fluent in business, a patient diplomat, and provides the important bridges between it and the business.
