JRN 271 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Google Images, California Institute Of Technology
Document Summary
Leads to a confusing (even frustrating) user experience. Makes it hard to share and spread your awesome stories. Encourages people to explore your work and continue their journey. We are drawn to people and their faces. Infants can identify human faces long before other objects (stanford, 2012) Our brains are hardwired to be able to differentiate faces (caltech, 2005) Images with faces tend to get more shares, likes, etc. In general, human beings love sensible design flow (logical organization) We love attractive, colourful visuals (people process images 60,000 times faster than text) We love to be able to read things clearly. But we love a surprise now and then. Am i being consistent? (fonts, formatting, colour palette, image sizing/orientation) Assignments will focus on developing different elements of design, function and user experience. Have a mix of images/multimedia, not just pictures of a storefronts. Try to tell stories about people: do interviews, add quotes.
