Social purpose: to discourages people from committing private wrongs by requiring them to compensate and restore the wronged party. The defendant is responsible for an especially dangerous activity that caused harm. Ex: boa constrictor escaped from cage, climbs in through air ducts, and kills young child. Trespass to land: you do not need to know that you are. Trepsassing, the act of doing something to or on someones. Ex: intent to build a fence, whether or not you knew it was on someone else"s land. Intentional (she meant to put the package at the door) Interference with land (entered land by completing above action, she was not invited) Exception: general exception to trespass is implied legal authority (post service worker) Test: employer is responsible for wrongful act done by employee when it is done in the course of employment. Acts that company authorized an employee to do so. A tortious act closely connected to employment relationships.
