Document Summary

Ethics can be defined as, norms for conduct that distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behavior (resnik, 2011). After looking over the case regarding acme, it is blatantly clear that the president went against the law and acted in an unethical manner. The president should be held legally accountable since she was attempting to trick the government officials into believing that their product met standards when in reality it was not. As a result of the president being held legally liable we can draw the conclusion that this is ethical based on consequence. The president has a legal obligation towards acme to act within the law and make sure everyone in the company is acting within the law as well. Due to time and monetary constraints, the president of acme decided to act unethically by coming up with any solution that would trick government inspectors into concluding that their product meets the standards claimed by acme.
