No single accepted authoritaive deiniion of csr. Other terms: corporate ciizenship, corporate accountability, triple botom line, responsible business. Csr typically described as voluntary, non-statutorily required social responsibility commitments and aciviies. For csr, compliance with laws is a necessary minimum expectaion. Csr includes but is not limited to philanthropy. Csr addresses: corporate governance and ethics; health and safety; environmental stewardship; human/labour rights, human resource management; community involvement; aboriginal persons relaions; fair compeiion; ani-bribery; supply chains; transparency, accountability and performance reporing. Perceived hypocrisy: western-based corporaions meeing high standards of environmental, worker, human rights in developed countries, but not in developing countries. Pressure for acion from consumers, workers, investors, shareholders, lenders, governments, supply chain partners, ceriicaion bodies, civil society organizaions. Rise of internet, rise in importance of transparency and accountability for all organizaions. Has led to proliferaion of environmental, employee, human rights, community-oriented voluntary codes, standards, guidelines, ceriicaions approaches, with muliple audits, etc.
