Property: a material trait according to the type and magnitude of response to a specific imposed stimulus including mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, optical and chemical corrosive properties. 3 basics material types based on chemical composition and atomic structures: metals, ceramics, polymers. Advanced materials: materials used in high-technology (high tech) applications including semiconductors, biomaterials, smart materials, and nanomaterials.
