Translating french into english 50 years after original was written; did not change the story to make it more modern, but rather the authors said they paraphrased the original text. As time passes, we need new paraphrases to keep things fresh. Movie is basically a retelling of a myth; the story adds a new element of a girl in a modern world listening to the story of the aviator. Movie opens and quickly addresses that the movie will not be a straight retelling of the story. Plants the idea of growing up and forgetting childhood - a theme from the novel that the movie works with. In some instances, the aviator gives her pieces of the story; he tells it to her, etc. Early retelling of the story in the movie give audiences that sense of a straight adaptation of the novel. Then dialogue between him and the little prince.
