Demand for computer chips from intel is derived from consumer products with embedded chips computer, tablets, smartphones etc. Fewer customers but larger orders than b2c market. Two companies agree to rebuy each others products. Market demand is more inelastic - not as dependent on price. Likely to have detailed buying specifications or be custom ordered. Organizational purchasers buy raw materials and unfinished goods. B2b purchasers are more interested in delivery time, technical assistance, after sale service & financing than a b2c customer. Employee responsibility is determining buyer needs, finding suitable suppliers, negotiating appropriate price and ensuring adequate follow-up service. People oversee creating specifications, signing off on purchases, negotiating purchase, ensuring specifications have been met. Long-term relationships are important and effort is put into negotiating relationships.
