Beginning to make likenesses of real humans in history. Greeks are more interested in youth and beauty, romans are more interested in historical gures. They recorded physical deformities like wrinkles, scars, long noses, saggy skin, etc. Statues of augustus were made and mass reproduced as a type of reminder or likeness of their leader. Most statues were painted, now looking tacky . Ara pacis augustae (altar of augustan peace) was an altar so people could make sacri ces in augustine"s name for peace. Procession of the imperial family relief on side of altar. Colosseum (flavian amphitheater) a huge amphitheatre housed entertainment like executions, ghting beasts and gladiator battles (188x156 m) concrete, stone, marble, brick facing. Floor in the colosseum may have been ooded to exhibit naval battles. Hadrian bust, this was one of the rst roman sculptures to feature a beard. Equestrian statue of marcus aurelius is one of the largest, still standing bronze sculpture that still lasts today.
