Pp: henri le secq, farmyard scene, c. 1852, cyanotype print. This is the case with many of those that took up photography in the early years. They either continued to painting and used photography as a tool, or model from which to paint, or they switched altogether to photography. Early photographers just carried on with the pictorial conventions of painting, using their radical new technology to make traditional kinds of images.
