Art and documentary may appear to be oppositional terms, but the late. 1970s saw radical shifts in the perception and consumption of photography. Coupled with the new ways of thinking about visual language, this meant that distinctions between modes of photographic practice were eroded. Changes in film and cameras - from 35mm to medium and large format - and the use of colour introduced alternative ways of looking at the world.
