Document Summary

Introduction to romantic period (lecture #6 & #7) Franz schubert was a social, but extremely shy person who was too timid to introduce himself to beethoven; whom he was inspired and admired the most, when the two passed each other on the streets of vienna. Beethoven on the other hand, was more outspoken and straight forward. Schubert"s talent lay in his ability to adapt to almost any kind of musical form. His vocal contributions; more than 500, were written for male and female voices, as well as mixed voices. He produced masterworks with rich harmonies and legendary melodies for a variety of genres. Felix and fanny (oldest) mendelssohn were born in hamburg, germany. They were exposed to music and showed their natural talents; both started in piano. When felix was 2 years old, the family moved to berlin where bot siblings began taking piano lessons with ludwig berger to further establish and develop their skills.
