NSE 11A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Nursing Diagnosis, Nursing Care Plan
Document Summary
Week 4: nursing process & the roy adaptation model nursing outcomes interventions. Goal: specific, not completely dependent of the nurse, collaborative problem resolution. Expected outcomes: specific, nurse could potentially control through nursing interventions, measurable criteria used to evaluate goal achievement. Two purposes of goals & expected outcomes: provide direction for selection of nursing interventions, provide focus for evaluating effectiveness of the interventions. Reflects client"s highest possible level of wellness and independence: short term goal. Objective behaviour or response that you expect the client to achieve in a short time: long term goal. Objective behaviour or response that you expect a client to achieve over a longer period of time. When choosing interventions, consider 6 factors: the nursing diagnosis. Interventions should alter etiological factor (cause of disease, origin) or the signs and symptoms related to the diagnosis: goals and expected outcomes, the evidence base. Research evidence in support of nursing intervention to indicate effectiveness.
