Interpersonal violence- including intimate partner violence, sexual assault, child abuse and elder abuse a serious problem that health care providers must recognize, assess and address. Imprisonment: humiliation, stalking, denial of access to financial resources, shelter or services. Men are more likely to be injured by strangers in public or social settings vs. women are in greater danger of experiencing violence from intimate partners in their own homes. Women are also at greater risk of sexual violence: sexual assault. Ccc identifies sa both touching and assault. Most provinces have child welfare laws that require the public (inc. hcp) to report suspected child abuse. The violence, mistreatment or neglect that a child or adolescent may experience while in the care of someone they either trust/depend on. Child abuse and ipv overlap(70% of families where women are abused, children are also abused. Physical child abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, emotional abuse.
