Heart extends from 2nd and 5th ics. Endocardium lines the inner surface of the heart chambers and valves. Veins carry blood back to the heart. Arteries carry blood away from the heart. Superior and inferior vena cava return unoxygenated blood to the right side of the heart. The pulmonary artery carries unoxygenated, venous blood to the lungs. The pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood to the left side of the heart. The aorta carries oxygenated blood out to the body. The valves main purpose is to prevent back flow and unidirectional.
