To produce red blood cells in the bone marrow. Ligaments are fibrous bands that run directly from one bone to another. Bursa is an enclosed sac filled with fluid located in areas of friction i. e. shoulder and knee. Muscles account for 40-50% of body weight. There are 3 types: smooth, cardiac, skeletal voluntary, under conscious control. Fibrous tissue or cartilage that is immovable i. e. sutures in the skull. Enclosed in a joint cavity and filled with a lubricant, which permits movement, and is supported by ligaments. Inspection: palpation, rom, muscle testing, special tests.
