Advances are a product of political will and individual leadership change in leadership can undo progress. Economic and community wealth building approach demonstrates cost of poverty in terms of lost productivity and focuses on strengthening capacity and resilience. Social justice approach highlights issues of inequality based on income, race, disability, or gender. Each approach protected people from cold, put food on the table, provided scholarships, inspired corporations to do business differently, and built foundations for stronger communities, put in place measures such as child benefits and guaranteed. Still there are critical gaps a further approach could look at protecting human rights.
