Describe the characteristics and risk factors for different types of skin cancers: melanoma, basal cell, squamous cell and merkle cell. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer killer of women between the ages of 26-30. Skin cancer is the two and most common cancer in young adults age 16-34. Types of skin cancers: skin cancer develops in the cells within the outer layer (epidermis) of the skin, basal cell carcinoma develops in the basal cells (stratum germinativum). These cells are located at the base of the epidermis, and as new basal cells develop, the older cells are pushed upwards towards the surface. Horny cell layer (outer epidermis - comprises of squamous cells aka stratum corneum) Basal cell layer (base of the epidermis - comprises of basal cells aka stratum germinativum) The most common form of skin cancer.
