Document Summary

Placed a total of 1 kg mass on top of the block, fastened so the masses cannot shift. Slowly and gently pulled the block horizontally with a small force. Very gradually, taking up to 3 seconds, increased the force until the block started to slide, and then kept the block moving at a constant speed for another 3 seconds. A graph that reflects the entire process was printed: all masses from the block were removed, clicked and pulled as before. Examined the data by clicking the statistics button, Clicked on the statistics button again and read the average force during the time interval. Recorded this value as kinetic friction force trial 1 : repeated steps 8-9 two more times and recorded these values in the data table as trial 2 and trial 3 . Calculated the average value for the peak static and kinetic friction forces: added masses totaling 500 g to the block.
