Crave certainty, and need to be absolutely right. Believers are weak and need their religion to get by. Claims are applied to all believers in general. Ree says that religious traditions have developed powerful insights about what it means to be human that merit our consideration. Whether we ourselves believe in god or not is not the point. Intelligent religious thinkers like kierkegaard claim to be in the grip of an experience that is real to them.
