Being and time: mh is interested in nothing less than what it means to be, in short, existence itself, mh claims that the modern world is oblivious to the question of existence we have forgotten it. Because we have a tendency to con ate two sense of being: being as verb: to be, being as noun: a being, an entity. We only refer to the last meaning and ignore the rst. Ontological difference: in german, there are different words for each meaning. Being (seiende) noun: there is a difference (mh calls this the ontological difference) between being as such (to be, existence) and being as entity, being itself cannot be grasped like a being. Need a new way to do philosophy in order to understand being. Esp. pertinent in relation to one kind of being humans: because we can pose the question, we have an open end in this, mh"s response: dasein (da-sein), i. e. , us.
