Introduction
The challenge
• Public awareness and acknowledgement of the practice and profession of planning
• With greater recognition and understanding of the realm of practice comes greater
public scrutiny of the conduct of members of the profession
• Members of the public and governments have shown an increasing skepticism towards
professional groupings and their abilities to assure high standards of practice among
their members
