Planning issues often involve issues of conflict of values and interests so those who practice planning need to adhere to a set of ethical requirements that calls for high standards of honesty and fairness. Code of practice sets minimum standards of acceptable practice. We deal with various people: employers and clients, public. Code informs planners as to how to fulfill their obligation in serving the public interest in contexts where the values of society are in conflict or competition. Are statements of the general, philosophical principles that define and direct the moral scope of the profession. Such statements are meant to remind members of the moral nature of professional practice. Statements of role-related norms that define appropriateness conduct specific members of the profession these norms may differ form social norms and are meant to be pragmatic guidelines for professionals. Should be consistent with any codes od ethics that may exist.
