Cardiovascular system: heart (pump, conducting system aka blood vessels, blood. Specialized fluid of connective tissue and contains cells in fluid matrix. Trnasports materials to and from cells oxygen and co2: nutrients, hormones, waste and immune system things. Restriction of fluid loss when you get hurt. Plasma: 55, water (92%), protein (7%) and (1%) other solutes. Formed elements: (45%: all cells and solids (wbc, rbc>> and platelets) Rbc: transport oxygen, majority of formed elements, erythrocytes, primary fuel is glucose, each hemoglobin molecule can carry 4 oxygen. Hemopoiesis process of making formed elements by myloid and lymphoid cells. Fractionation- process of separating whole blood into plasma and formed elements. Makes up 7% of human body weight. Material (water, ion, small solutes) from plasma and interstitial fluid exchange through capillary walls. Transports any thing protein related (ex: hormone binding protein, steroid binding protein, lipoprotein: fibrinogen. 1% plasma: peptide hormones (like insulin, prl, tsh, fsh, lh)
