- Structural Anarchy- realism sees world as hostile place, no order, only way to survive as
a country is if you have military might to establish yourself,
- Realism: actors- objectives are to maintain their own security
- Security: material and military capabilities
- Security: high politics
- Security: want to make sure nobody borders you, resources make money, or take control
of resources
- Process of decision making very rational
Realism’s objective
- Only way to achieve these things is having strong military might always trying to strike
balance of power to make sure your no affected
- Want military strength: invest massively in defence
- If someone has nuclear weapons, get the same amount but a lot more
- Thinking is you have to be self-reliant, idea of united nations and allies comes second
